The Way of a Pilgrim

"The Way of a Pilgrim" is a classic text of Russian Orthodox Christian spirituality. In it, an itinerant pilgrim wanders the Russian countryside seeking the experience of inner prayer "without ceasing," which he finds in the recitation of the Jesus Prayer. He repeats the simple prayer "Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me," until it comes to permeate his entire existence.
